News hardware Samsung Galaxy S22: a new update to save the Exynos 2200?

Samsung’s Galaxy S22 range of smartphones has been criticized since its release due to performance concerns related to its SoC, the Exynos 2200. The manufacturer has just released a new update to rectify the situation.

Summary

  • Samsung is rolling out an update to stabilize the system
  • How to update a Samsung Galaxy S22?

Released last February, the Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra are high-end smartphones whose performance is often considered not to live up to the manufacturer’s promises. The SoC (system on a chip) Exynos 2200 is mainly singled out: Samsung had to clamp it to prevent the terminals from overheatingoften causing a rapid drop in performance, especially when playing demanding games.

Samsung is rolling out an update to stabilize the system

After a first major update deployed in early March, Samsung is offering a new patch at the beginning of April on all smartphones in its Galaxy S22 range. Called S90xBXXU1AVCJ, it weighs around 1.4 GB, which is quite a lot of weight.

However, Samsung is not the most vocal regarding its content. The manufacturer is content to indicate two points in the detail of the update:

  • General stability of functions has been improved
  • Device security has been improved

Alongside the March update, which contained plenty of detail and specifically targeted CPU and GPU performance, the April one is a little perplexing. Our test of the Galaxy S22made following the March update, had let us perceive very little difference compared to our experience with the Samsung Galaxy S22 +which was tested just following its release.

Can this new patch really improve the user experience on Galaxy S22 smartphones? We can legitimately ask the question, because, following a certain stage, the concern may simply be related to the hardware design of the terminals and therefore difficult to rectify with simple software updates.

If you have a Galaxy S22, S22+ or S22 Ultra, you can simply wait for your smartphone to send you a push to install the update. Otherwise, you can go to Settings > Software Update to manually download and install it.
