King Farouk I was born on February 11, 1920, to be installed as King of Egypt following the death of his father on April 28, 1936, to ascend the throne on May 6, 1936.

As a minor, a guardianship council was formed, headed by his cousin, Prince Muhammad Ali bin Khedive Tawfiq, brother of King Fouad I.

Until he was officially crowned a year later as King of Egypt following a fatwa was issued by Al-Azhar that he had reached the age of rule, according to the Hijri calendar for Egypt, and he was crowned as an official king on July 29, 1937.

The king’s surprise for the bride’s family
