Two Republicans appear to secure Justice Jackson a seat on the Supreme Court

In the process of carving out a place for herself in the history books, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is approaching the Supreme Court of the United States, now strong with three Republican supporters.

Republican senators Lisa Murkowski and Mitt Romney in turn announced on Monday evening that they would support the choice of Judge Brown, paving the way for a confirmation of her nomination.

Their colleague Susan Collins had been the first in the Republican camp to announce her support for the candidate chosen by Joe Biden.

According to a compilation of Washington Post48 Democrats and independents allied with the Democrats have so far indicated that they would vote in favor of her nomination, bringing the number of supports she has garnered to 51.

Called to become the 116th judge to sit on the highest court in the country, Ketanji Brown Jackson will however, in all likelihood, be the very first African-American woman to access it.

The Senate will vote on Judge Jackson’s nomination by the end of the week.

More details will follow.
