The beginning of the discussion of the Student Participation Law Project took place this Monday, at the facilities of the Libertador Bolívar National Educational Unit, in the Doña Bárbara sector in San Félix.
The event was attended by representatives of the educational sector (teachers and students), it was also attended by the deputy to the National Assembly for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Gabriel Franco; the director of the Educational Zone, Betzi Palma; the Secretary of Education, Brizeida Quiñones; the sectorial delegate of Religious and Cult of the Bolívar state, Fraymer Toledo and the municipal spokesman, Fernando Valdivieso.
Franco commented that for the Student Participation Law there must be an organization by parts of young people, in which everyone participates regardless of creed, thought, social position, etc.
“Any constructive criticism, any colleague who wants to join is welcome, it is a duty and it is a right granted to us by the Constitution and the Organic Law of Education,” he stressed.
The purpose of the law is to promote and develop the means for leading participation in the exercise of active citizenship of students in their basic education system.
This in order to defend, protect and guarantee education as a human right and duty, as well as in the formulation, execution and control of public policies on education in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the law.
With this text it seeks to: Guarantee education as a human right. Promote the protagonist participation in the exercise of active citizenship of the students.
Also guarantee the right of students to organize themselves in councils, without undermining other organizational forms and finally strengthen the leading participation of individuals, families and society in the promotion, defense and protection of students.
Franco made it clear that point number three means, “that all the student body that wants to organize different forms of organization and student participation can do so, there is already a Bolivarian student organization, which gives each one of you the opportunity to show their various leaderships.”
“In addition, it is a direct way for you to raise your voice, and collect different proposals and solutions that can be presented, both directly to our Ministry of Education, as well as to any other ministry.”
Brizeida Quiñones, Secretary of Education in the state of Bolívar, stated that students 25 years ago did not have a voice and a vote, “right now you are being given an opportunity, where you participate, propose, say what needs to be done , (…)”.
