Mumbai: Lucknow Super Giants won the Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket match once morest Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs. Batting first, Lucknow scored 169 for seven. In reply, the Sunrisers were bowled out for 157 for nine in the allotted overs.
Lucknow got off to a good start but Lokesh Rahul and Deepak Hooda made a strong comeback for the fourth wicket. Lucknow landed on the strength of both the half-centuries. Lucknow fell to 27 for three when Washington Sunder dismissed Quinton de Kok and Evin Lewis, while Romario Shepard dismissed Manish Pandey. Hooda and Rahul put on 87 for the fourth wicket
Won. Hooda was the fastest to complete the first half century. Hooda was dismissed by Romario Shepard for 51 off 33 balls. Rahul Ayush, who went on the attack following Hooda’s dismissal, teamed up with Badoni for 30 for the fifth wicket. Rahul scored 68 off 50 balls. Natarajan was trapped in front of the wicket. Ayush Badoni, who scored 19, was run out in the last ball.
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings suffered their third consecutive defeat in the 15th season. Punjab Kings beat Chennai Super Kings by 54 runs at Brabourne Stadium. Batting first, Punjab scored 180 for eight.
In reply, the Super Kings were all out for 126. Shivam Dubey (57 off 30 balls, including three sixes and six fours) was the only batsman to score a half-century. Moin Ali, skipper Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo returned unbeaten. Liam Livingston (60 off 32 balls, including five sixes and five fours) smashed Dubey and Bravo in successive overs.
Livingston’s fiery half-century put Punjab ahead. Opener Shikhar Dhawan (33 off 24 balls with one six and four fours) and Jitesh Sharma (26 off 17 balls with three sixes) were the standout performers.
At the end of the power play, Punjab scored 72 runs. Livingston and Dhawan combined for 95 runs. Punjab lost both the matches in successive overs and were 115/4 in 10.4 overs.
Chennai made a strong comeback with wickets in the final overs. Dwayne Pretorius and Chris Jordan took two wickets each. Mukesh Chaudhary, Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.
