11-inch MacBook Air now obsolete | Mac Life

how Macrumors reports, the small and very popular 11-inch MacBook Air and an older MacBook Pro will be on a list that Apple is dubbing “Obsolete” starting April 30, 2022. The three devices have been on a list of “vintage” products since 2020. However, the shift to obsolete status has very different consequences for the owners of the devices.

According to Apple, products are obsolete if they have not been sold for seven years. This means that there are no more repairs, except for a battery replacement. This is of course a very important note for all users who still have such a device that actually needs to be repaired. There is still time until April 30, 2022 to bring the MacBook to an Apple Store or to a qualified repair service provider.

The 11-inch MacBook Air was discontinued in 2016. After that, only 13-inch MacBook Air was offered. There are rumors that Apple plans to launch another MacBook Air next year, but it will be 15 inches.

According to a report by 9to5Mac, which refers to the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is not planning a new edition until the third quarter of 2022 – then with the M2 processor. For that to work, production would have to start at the end of the second quarter of 2022, the report says.

The new MacBook Air is supposed to get not only a new processor but also a completely new case, which is said to have stylistic borrowings from the iMac.

However, the MacBook Air M1 is still – a year and a half following its market launch – a very good, fast and last but not least quiet device.

Do you still own a MacBook Air 11 inch? Can the device still be used? Feel free to write something regarding it in the comments, we are very excited.
