Five facts from the 2022 Grammy Awards

The Anglo Grammy gala will be seen this Sunday following being postponed last January due to the pandemic. This year they will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas (USA), instead of the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and will be presented by comedian Trevor Noah.

They will be delivered just a week following the Oscars, with the challenge of maintaining the interest of the audience for the awards season.

Jon Batiste, a musician somewhat unknown to the general public, leads the nominations for the awards with eleven mentions, which as an attraction for the audience will face Taylor Swift and Kanye West, one of the most notorious feuds in pop, for the award for album of the year.

These are other important data of the gala that will be seen in Colombia by TNT.

1. The Colombian nominees
The Colombian Paula Arenas, with My lovesshares a nomination in the Best Latin Pop Album category with Camilo and his work My hands. In the category Best urban music album there are 3 nationals in competition:

J Balvin, for Joseph; Karol G, por KG0516, y Kali Uchis, por

Fearless (Of Love And Other Demons). In Best Rock or Alternative Album there are 3 Colombians: Bomba Estéreo with LetElectric Diamond by Look What You Made Me Do (Deluxe Edition) and Juanes for Origin. In the category of Best Music Album for Children, Andrés and Cristina are nominated, of the duo 123, Andrés, for your album Activate.

This Anglo Grammy has only been won by Shakira (she has 3), Carlos Vives, Juanes (both with two gramophones), the Niche Group and Kali Uchis who won it last year.

2. Appearances and absences
The Grammys confirmed some live shows at tomorrow’s ceremony. Among them is J Balvin, who will present the song with María Becerra What else then? They will also be part of the show John Legend, Billie Eilish, HER and Olivia Rodrigo. One of the absences will be Foo Fighters, who have 3 nominations in the rock categories, but following the death of their drummer Taylor Hawkins they canceled their concerts and appearances at public events. The Grammys announced that they will pay tribute to Hawkins, although they did not specify how.

3. Transmission and red carpet
The 64th Annual Grammy Awards will take place live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. There will be a red carpet broadcast on E! Entertainment starting at 5:00 pm Colombian time. TNT will perform a red carpet special starting at 6:00 p.m. and will have the ceremony live starting at 8:00 p.m.

4. The most nominated of the night
Singer-songwriter Jon Batiste is the top choice with 11 nominations. They are followed by Justin Bieber with 8, Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo with 7 each and Finneas (Eilish’s brother) with 5.

5. Tributes and presenter
This year the presenter and comedian Trevor Noah returns to be the master of ceremonies of the gala in which John Legend will also be honored, who will receive the Recording Academy Global Impact Award for his personal and professional achievements in the music industry. The Person of the Year will be Joni Mitchell at an event the day before.
