Are you among the beneficiaries? PC Factory will compensate more than 50 thousand clients

On February 25 and following eight months of negotiations, the National Consumer Service (SERNAC) and the PC Factory technology company reached a compensatory agreement that will benefit more than 50,000 customers. The ruling was approved by the Seventh Civil Court of Santiago on March 28, so that compensation to consumers should begin in the coming weeks.

There were more than 3,000 people who filed complaints with the agency accusing the non-delivery of products, lack of stock, cancellation of orders and the delay in returning the money following this.

The customers who will be compensated are those who made purchases in the PC Factory website or by phone between March 1, 2020 and July 7, 2021. The refund of the money will be divided into three different groups:

  • Delay in delivery of purchases: There are more than 46 thousand people affected by this situation who will be compensated for amounts ranging from $1,000 to $255,000. The calculation is made taking into account a proportion between the price paid for the shipment and the time it takes to deliver it.
  • Canceled purchases: The compensation amounts in this group that includes more than 3,000 people, start at $1,000, spend $463,000
  • Delay in the return of the money: Customers who have had to wait longer than the established time for the return of their money, whatever the reason, will receive compensation ranging from $12 to $350,000. This is the group least affected, reaching 360 people

It should be noted that customers who were living in communes that were declared in quarantine between March 18, 2020 and April 6, 2021 will not be beneficiaries of compensation for delays in the delivery of purchases. In addition, consumers from the Valparaíso regions , Maule, Biobío, Ñuble, La Araucanía, Los Lagos, Los Ríos, Aysén and Magallanes, will also not be compensated if they made purchases between August 26 and September 11, 2020 due to the truck stoppage, according to Publimetro.

The company will contact customers via email and they will be the ones who will choose the payment method that best suits them, which can be a bank transfer or a payment coupon to use at PC Factory.
