The score is final, like a ruthless Amriswil team. Dominated in three sets (25-20, 25-17, 25-20), Chênois completely missed his entry into the play-off final. Never, if not a little in the middle of the third set, the defending champion has managed to shake his opponent and stop his attacking game. Under these conditions, the Thurgau team played on velvet. It will take a completely different opposition, next Thursday Sous-Moulin, to prevent it from taking off during Act II.

Pause too long?

On the Tellenfeld field, we did not recognize Chênois, who had grown up from a fierce battle once morest Schönenwerd. Would the fortnight’s break have had a detrimental effect on its influx, while at the same time, Amriswil was heating up by winning the Swiss Cup in the snatch? One thing is certain: far too harmless in the service, the Geneva volleyball players gave the Thurgovians yards to get whipped. In this game, rather masochistic, the passer Filippov had a great time and his attackers fired all the woods.

A too frivolous reception

Another crippling weakness on the Geneva side: a too friable reception, especially when Mischa von Burg, the Swiss MVP of the season, and the substitute Julian Weisigk (already decisive in the Cup final), served the lead. With a Corey Chavers not really in the game and an absence of revolt despite the exhortations of his captain Dejan Radic, Chênois simply did not have the arguments to shake up an Amriswil in top form. Nothing is lost but it will be necessary to react as quickly as possible if he does not want to lose everything.
