“Krasnodar” requested 40 million euros from “Zenith” for the transfer of Safonov – media

“Zenith” interested in the goalkeeper Matvey Safonov during the winter transfer window, while “Krasnodar” asked for at least 40 million euros for the player, said RB Sport.

According to the source, the club justified the price tag by the fact that Chelsea had previously acquired goalkeeper Kepa from Athletic for 80 million euros. Thus, according to Krasnodar, a player with great potential and a Russian passport cannot be worth less than 40 million.

It is noted that the St. Petersburg club was not satisfied with these conditions and Zenit switched to other options.

The contract of 22-year-old Safonov with Krasnodar is calculated until the summer of 2023. Portal Transfermarkt estimates his value at 16 million euros.

In the current season of the Russian championship, Safonov has played 20 matches, leaving the gate “dry” in six cases.
