“Health affects acting ability”… Dishonorable Award Cancellation

(Los Angeles = Yonhap News) Correspondent Yoon-seop Jeong = The Golden Raspberry’s ‘Worst Performance Award’, which was given for mocking Bruce Willis’ acting ability, has been withdrawn.
The Golden Raspberry Foundation announced on the 31st (local time) that Willis is retiring following being diagnosed with aphasia.
The Golden Raspberry Award (aka Razzie Award) is a disgrace award given to an actor who has shown the worst movie and poor acting skills of the year, and the awards ceremony is held the day before the American Academy Awards.
Golden Raspberry gave Willis a special award for worst performance at this year’s awards ceremony.
This is because he showed the worst performances in eight films, including low-budget, streaming-only movies, in which he recently appeared.
However, when Willis suffered aphasia from health problems and it was revealed that his cognitive decline had also affected his acting, Golden Raspberry withdrew the honorary award he had given him.
Golden Raspberry Awards co-founders John Wilson and Mom Murphy said in a statement, “We acknowledge that it is inappropriate to award an award if someone’s health condition becomes a factor that influences that person’s decision-making and performance.”
In the past four years, Willis has worked on 22 films, including low-budget B-movies, which have been criticized for poor quality.
Directors who have worked with Willis recently said that he was not aware of his surroundings or had problems digesting lines.
Director Mike Burns told the Los Angeles Times (LAT), “I’ve been asked to reduce the length of Willis’ lines, but working directly with him I realized there was a bigger problem.”
Jesse Johnson, director of the low-budget film ‘The White Elephant’, said, “It was clearly not the Willis I remembered.”
It is reported that Willis did not know why he was on set during the filming of the film.
