A Brazilian computer scientist developed a sentiment detection model to evaluate the face of actor Will Smith during his speech at the Oscars, following slapping comedian Chris Rock.
Rondinelli Morais, artificial intelligence specialist and big data, studied, through artificial neural networks and an indicator of emotions, Will Smith’s reactions during the award ceremony.
Among the evaluated parameters, the following stand out: anger, sadness, fear, boredom and disgustrespect to the negative emotions, while in the positive ones they were: emotion, surprise, happiness and relaxation.
During the Oscar Awards ceremony, Chris Rock made a joke regarding Jada Pinkett Smith -Will Smith’s wife- and her baldness, which caused the disapproval of the actress. Finishing the Rock joke, the actor went on stage and slapped the comedian.
Then Will Smith returned to his place and from his seat he shouted: “Keep my wife’s name out of your mouth.”.
Later Will Smith was chosen as best actor for his portrayal of Richard Williams, for which he returned to star in a speech on stage, He apologized and added, “I hope the Academy invites me back.”
