release date and trailer revealed

We’ve been waiting for news of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide for quite some time. The game developed by Fatshark was recently offered a release date and a trailer that we reveal to you in this article.

Fans of the Warhammer universe celebrate this end of March with joy. The dark and sinister world of famous tabletop and miniatures games gets a brand new game, Darktide, plunging us right into the heart of the brutality and grandeur of the 41st Century Imperium. It must be said that the public has waited patiently for news since Fatshark announced the project a little over a year ago. And the Swedish developer has not gone too far, offering us a release date and a thunderous trailer for this major project. It must be said that Fatshark knows how to do as much in the cooperative shooter genre as to deal with the Warhammer worlds, as evidenced by the successes of Vermintide and Vermintide 2, the latter having sold more than 3 million copies. But this time, Darktide leaves the dark and fantastic world of Warhammer Fantasy to tackle a big, very big fish: the galaxy in the 41st millennium. And, like all self-respecting Warhammer 40,000 fans, we want to see more.

Gameplay

As for the gameplay of Warhammer 40,000 Darktide, you don’t have to rack your brains for long to know what you’re dealing with. Fatshark intends to use the formula that made the success of Vermintide and Vermintide 2, that is to say the cooperative FPS where a team of four players must go from point A to point B while being attacked by successive waves of more or less tough enemies. The Left 4 Dead inspiration is obviously glaring, but assumed, and generally fits very well with the brutality of the Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 universes, where the enemies of humanity are legion and the heroes so rare. Only, in Darktide, you will trade your halberd and your bow for a laser rifle and a chainsword, and trade the hordes of Skaven and cultists of Nurgle once morest… the hordes of cultists of Nurgle from the depths of the hive cities of the Empire. Of course, everything is to be done for Fatshark, who will have the heavy task of bringing to the screen the gigantic scales typical of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. For the moment, the Darktide scenario remains very mysterious, we know that we will embody an atypical squad of the Imperial Guard sent to the planet Atoma-Prime to try to prevent an incursion of Chaos into the hive city of Tertium.

What is the release date for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide?

This is the topic of the moment, Fatshark announced in the trailer above a specific date for the release of its next protege. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be released on September 13, 2022, direct to Xbox Series X|S and PC. A title exclusively reserved for the next-gen therefore, and an Xbox exclusivity. Big disappointment on the other hand for Playstation players who will probably have to wait a few months before being able to dive into the depths of Tertium and slay heretics. As a reminder, the Xbox exclusivity had lasted just under six months at the time of the release of Vermintide 2 in 2018.
