Official Correction-Judicial Source: The Public Prosecutor is appealing the decision to release the brother of the Governor of the Banque du Liban

(To indicate that the bail is $20 million, not $20,000)

BEIRUT (Archyde.com) – A senior judicial source told Archyde.com that Public Prosecutor Judge Ghada Aoun appealed on Thursday the decision to release Raja Salameh, brother of the governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, on bail.

Raja was arrested on 17 March on charges of complicity in money laundering from illicit enrichment. The brothers deny any wrongdoing.

Earlier on Thursday, another source said that the investigating judge, Nicolas Mansour, had issued an order to release Raja Salameh on financial bail and prevent him from traveling abroad.

The senior judicial source said that Raja is still in detention pending a decision on Judge Aoun’s appeal.

The senior judicial source said that the bail was set at twenty million dollars.
