KV Mechelen extended Alec Van Hoorenbeeck. The 23-year-old left-handed defender signed a lease on Wednesday until 2026.

Van Hoorenbeeck has been playing for KV Mechelen since 2013. Having cut his teeth in the various age categories, he worked his way up to the A-core via loans to Heist and Helmond. This season, he has made 12 appearances.
“Alec proves that with the right mentality, you can make a good development,” said sporting director Tom Caluwé. “The fact that he is now part of our first team thanks to the project with our partner Helmond Sport makes us even more happy. He has an excellent mind and can make further progress here.”
Van Hoorenbeeck himself is also happy with this four-year contract extension: “This season, I was able to taste the games of D1A. In such a full AFAS stadium, I look forward to playing in the coming seasons.”
