iFixit disassembles the new monitor

Apple introduced the Studio Display in combination with the new Mac Studio and it is not well received by everyone. Carsten has one can take a look at it and is basically quite impressed. Now iFixit has disassembled the monitor and found that Apple seems to have done a good job when it comes to overengineering.

The Studio Display can be opened in the same way as an iMac. You detach the panel and thus access the internal components. At first glance, the device looks more like an iMac.

Among other things, the camera comes to light, which according to iFixit looks exactly like the iPhone 11 front camera and should produce significantly better pictures than the reviews say. So you can believe the topic “software error”.

The display is exactly the same LCD panel that you already know from the 5K iMac. Unlike the iMac, the power adapter is now inside the monitor (iFixit praises the thin power adapter’s design), which improves the user experience, but it’s a shame that the cable can’t be easily detached.

If you look at the logic board, you will find the A13 Bionic and the 64 GB of internal memory. iOS even runs on the monitor. The speakers are also good, but unfortunately there is a lot of glue in there.

Overall, iFixit is pretty impressed with the techniques Apple has used here to fix problems.
