Two people were shot dead by an armed man inside a McDonald’s fast food restaurant in the northern Dutch city of Gvole on Wednesday evening, police and local media said.
The police said in a tweet on Twitter that “two people were killed in the shooting.”
For its part, the local radio station RTL Aust said that the attack took place inside the McDonald’s restaurant around 18:00 (16:00 GMT).
The radio quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the two dead men were eating when a gunman entered and shot them, in what appeared to be a “targeted” attack.
The radio reported that the armed man “first ordered a meal and sat at a table near the two victims before shooting them.”
Soon the shooter fled.
And the police imposed a security cordon around the restaurant and asked anyone who has any information that might benefit the investigation to contact them.
A helicopter was seen flying overhead.
Ambulance teams tried to save one of the injured, but their efforts failed and he died.
According to press reports, the two dead were Dutch of Turkish origin.
