the victims will benefit from the advances provided for by the draft decree “collective emergencies”

Following the dramatic events that occurred in Strepy on March 20, the Psychosocial Intervention Plan was launched. This is the system put in place when an emergency situation arises in order to provide the people involved with the necessary psychosocial assistance.

And this Wednesday, the office of the Minister of Houses of Justice Valérie Glatigny announces that the victims will benefit from the advances provided for by the draft decree “collective emergencies”.

The government of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation had approved last February at first reading this preliminary draft decree aimed at setting up a central counter to ensure faster and more efficient care for victims of attacks and major disasters.

Concretely, the victims were therefore taken care of, initially by the actors of the acute phase. When the list of victims and relatives of victims has been completed, an offer of service will therefore be sent to all the victims concerned by the event which occurred in Strépy-Bracquegnies. In the meantime, the Mons police assistance service for victims is already taking care of victims or families who have been referred to their service or who contact it spontaneously.

Victims who require social assistance or psychological assistance are referred to the victim assistance service of the Hainaut district and the victim assistance services of neighboring districts so that the victims can, if their personal and geographical situation requires it, also be oriented towards them. The victim support services concerned are ready to respond to requests from victims who come to them.
