Han Min-ho, former director of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, who was dismissed for posting criticisms of the Moon Jae-in government, won the second trial in a lawsuit once morest the government to cancel his dismissal.
The Seoul High Court Administrative Division 4-3 (Judge Kim Jae-ho, Kwon Ki-hoon, and Han Kyu-hyun) ruled in favor of the plaintiff on the 30th, similar to the first trial, in the case of the cancellation of the dismissal disposition filed by former director Han once morest the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Former Director Han, working as the secretary general of the Speculation Industry Integration Supervision Committee, was fired in October 2019 following posting comments criticizing the government policy on social networking services (SNS) such as Facebook.
He became controversial following posting articles on social media saying, “Right now, being pro-Japanese is patriotism” and “It is understandable that Japan treated Koreans as second-class citizens without the right to vote.”
Dissatisfied with the government’s dismissal, former Director Han filed a lawsuit to cancel his dismissal on March 17, 2020, and won the first trial in August last year. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appealed, but the verdict of the second trial did not change.
