45% of French voters from North African and sub-Saharan immigration believe that they will not go to the polls on April 10, says an Ifop-JA poll published by Jeune Afrique on Tuesday March 28.
Thus, according to this poll, 45% of voters think that they will not move on April 10, a figure twice as high as the abstention rate in 2017. “More than a lack of interest in politics, it is undoubtedly a malaise in the face of an electoral campaign polluted by nauseating debates and a dissatisfaction with the proposed offer illustrated by this worrying figure”, analyzes Jeune Afrique who regrets the hostile policy towards foreigners.
While outgoing President Emmanuel Macron is the favorite in all the polls, it is the leader of France Insoumise (FI), Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who tops the voting intentions of the Ifop-JA poll with 36%. . The outgoing president, meanwhile, would collect only 27%. The other candidates, on the other hand, stand out clearly. Thus, Marine Le Pen, candidate of the National Rally (RN) obtains only 9%. Despite his convictions for incitement to racial hatred, the polemicist and far-right candidate is trailing Le Pen with his 7%. The two far-right candidates still total a score of 16%. The candidate of the Republicans (LR), Valérie Pécresse (6%), and that of Europe Ecology the Greens (EELV), Jannick Jadot (5%), follow the other candidates in the ranking.
Jeune Afrique believes that “French people from African immigration lean strongly to the left” and that the poll is “a snub for the candidates of the major parties such as Les Républicains or the Socialist Party, completely demonetized”.
