Marrakesh, Mar. 28 (Maroc-Actu) –

The Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo presented in Madrid its second SUV, called Tonale, which will arrive at Spanish customers next June and with which the brand hopes to double its market share.

The director of Alfa Romeo in Spain, Francesco Colonnese, has confirmed that this model is the first electrified vehicle with which the “metamorphosis” of the Stellantis firm begins, so each year a model will be launched until 2026 and the brand will have an all-electric range in 2027.

The Tonale’s exterior design features ‘3+3’ headlights and sinusoidal taillight clusters. We also notice the GT line, which goes from the rear to the headlights, and the design of the alloy wheels, which recalls the concept of “telephone dial”.

Inside, styling inspired by Alfa Romeo’s racing history emphasizes driver and passenger comfort. Among the most characteristic elements of this new model are the telescopic dashboard and the compact and sporty steering wheel with aluminum gearshift paddles.

In terms of powertrains, the Tonale has two levels of electrification, mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid. On the one hand, it is equipped with the Hybrid VGT (Variable-Geometry Turbo) 130 or 160 hp gasoline engine, combined with the Alfa Romeo TCT seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and the 15 kilowatt (20 kilowatt) electric motor. ch).

In the plug-in hybrid version with Q4 drive, the model offers a combined power of 275 hp, with a range in pure electric mode of up to 60 kilometers. The engine range is completed by the new 1.6-litre 130hp diesel engine paired with a six-speed Alfa Romeo TCT dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

The Tonale uses for the first time “non-fungible token” (NFT) technology which, with customer consent, saves vehicle data in encrypted form, generating a certificate that can be used as a guarantee of general condition. of the vehicle, with a positive impact on its residual value.

In terms of connectivity, it also includes the ‘Alfa Connect Services’ tool, over-the-air updates and Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant. The infotainment system has been completely revised with a telescopic instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch all-digital display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen.

In terms of safety, the new driver assistance systems enable Level 2 autonomous driving by combining the front camera, which monitors the entire car environment longitudinally and laterally, and the intelligent adaptive cruise control systems and centering on the lane.

The Stellantis consortium has recorded a hundred orders on the Spanish market for this model, in its launch version “Edizione Speciale”, whose starting price is around 39,000 euros.
