Xiaomi smartphones give incorrect information in performance tests because they artificially reduce their power in some demanding games. Previously, Samsung Corporation was caught on this, and Apple does not even hide that it artificially “slows down” its old models.
One of the developers of the Geekbench benchmark, John Pool, said that the Chinese manufacturer is not trying to cheat the tests, but when “heavy” applications such as Fortnite or Genshin Impact are launched, the processor frequency is artificially reduced. This prevents the phone from overheating and quickly draining the battery.
The researchers tried to disguise the benchmark as one of the mentioned games and found that the phone starts to give very different results. Performance indicators in single-core mode fell by 30%, and in multi-core mode – by 15%. It is these data that should be considered real, since they are closer to performance in everyday tasks.
As reported by Ruposters, Xiaomi will allow users to repair smartphones at home without losing the warranty. For simple breakdowns, this will help users spend less time on repairs, as well as reduce the burden on service centers.
