Doctor: Frequent going to the bathroom at night is a symptom of kidney disease

A nephrologist at the Moscow Health Directorate, Dr. Oling Kotino, said that frequent nighttime awakening may be a symptom of poor kidney function, according to the Russian Sputnik news agency, today (Sunday).
According to the agency, the Russian expert explained that “there are no specific criteria for the number of visits to the bathroom, but one of the indicators of kidney dysfunction is waking up at night; It is a signal that should prompt one to pay attention to the functioning of the kidneys,” he says.
In this context, the doctor emphasized that “if pain is observed when urinating frequently, it must be checked for the presence of a urinary tract infection.” He stressed the impermissibility of patience and endurance when there is a need to go to the bathroom, for both men and women, “because any stagnation in the urine greatly increases the risk of infection; That is, the infection from the urine can pass further, to the kidney tissue and develop pyelonephritis.”
