Fehervar takes semi-final lead against VSV

Hydro Fehervar takes a 2-1 lead once morest EC VSV in the semi-final series! The Hungarians prevailed 4-0 in game three in Villach. Atkinson (4th), Sarauer (28th, PP), Campbell (28th) and Hari (59th, EN) score the goals. Game four takes place in Fehervar on Wednesday.

With the victory in Villach, the Hungarians take a big step towards their first final in the ICE Hockey League. After losing game one, it’s already the second straight win in the semi-final series for the surprise team.

Early lead and double strike

Fehervar takes the momentum of Saturday’s 6-3 home win to Villach and takes an early lead. Defender Josh Atkinson makes it 1-0 following just four minutes. After Villach missed two overtime games, the guests struck in the power play. Andrew Saraurer is on the spot following preparatory work from Kuralt and Hari (28′). Only eight seconds later, the “devils” shock the opponent once more. Tim Campbell increases to 3-0 (28th).

Villach fought and set the tone in the final period, but failed several times to AVS goalie Rasmus Tirronen, who saved all 34 shots on his goal. Two minutes before the end it was Janos Hari who put the lid on it with an empty net goal (59′).

With the 4-0 win, Hungary now hold all the trumps in the “best-of-seven” series and are leading 2-1. The fourth semi-final encounter takes place in Fehervar (7:15 p.m.) on Wednesday.
