A few days ago, Rockstar Games relaunched Grand Theft Auto V and its multiplayer mode named GTA Online for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. As reported from the Rockstar Intel Twitter account (via ComickBook), some players were victims of accidental bans in Grand Theft Auto Online since the release of the next-gen version. Apparently, this phenomenon is the result of an annoying bug that, fortunately, is easy to prevent.

In case you don’t know, it is possible to access GTA Online directly from the main menu, but it is also possible to enter from the story mode of Grand Theft Auto V. However, it appears that the players opting for the latter option are those who started receiving permanent bans by mistake.
Because the ban applies to all Rockstar Social Club accounts, those users who fell victim to the bug will also have trouble accessing Rockstar Social Club. Red Dead Onlinethe multiplayer mode of Red Dead Redemption 2.

As of this writing, the Rockstar Games support account on Twitter still does not acknowledge the issue. In this way, it is not entirely clear if the error persists, so it is best to enter Grand Theft Auto Online from the main menu to reduce the risk of receiving unjustified punishment.
