Convention members of the Political System Commission resumed talks to reach an agreement regarding the country’s political regime. Coordinators of the instance anticipated that the dialogue might take Sunday and extend until Monday, the day on which the deadline to enter the indications expires.
Until this Saturday, the negotiations have been extended to reach agreements to enter indications in the report that seeks to elaborate the political system that would be embodied in the new Constitution.
The original report that this commission sent to the Plenary was rejected almost in its entirety in the first instance, which is why constituents from all sectors created this dialogue table to send new indications together and prepare a report that -ultimately- can generate consensus in the hemicycle to achieve two thirds.
As Radio Bío Bío advanced, during this Friday agreements were reached to create an asymmetric bicameral system. Today, Saturday, the discussion revolved around seeking a presidential system that leaves the different sectors satisfied, and also regarding untying the knots that exist in terms of the electoral system.
What is going to be mainly discussed? As for the Executive Power, the discussion is to create the position of a figure that would accompany the President. Some nominate a vice president, and others a government minister. So far, one of the two, both or even neither might be created.
The coordinator of the commission, Ricardo Montero, affirmed that the objective of the negotiations is to draft the articles.
The conventional Rosa Catrileo, also coordinator of the instance, assured that they are “putting all the effort to reach these great agreements.”
“We have been advancing slowly but surely,” he commented.
Harmony
Meanwhile, the independent constituent, Patricia Politzer, affirmed that one of the complications is that the system has to be harmonious, so that all the conversations, regarding the Executive, Legislative and Electoral System have to go along the same line.
Let us remember that the term for the commission to enter its instructions expired today at 11:59 p.m., but during the night of this Friday they asked the board of directors to extend the term until Monday, and with this the negotiations will extend between today Saturday, tomorrow Sunday and the same Monday.
