This is getting red hot. We have a chasing group that lowers the difference and is almost a minute behind do Higuita-Carapaz. Ayuso is almost 50 seconds away.
Attention, attention, tremendous decline of the Spanish Juan Ayuso. He is the great ‘threat’ for Higuita and Carapaz in the final stretch of the race.
The advantage between the large group and the ‘daring’ of the day is falling and much. Let’s see if the legs respond to Higuita and Carapaz at the end.

LET’S GO, GIRL!!!! COME ON, DAD!! THE RETURN WILL BE ‘STORED’ BY YOU, BROTHER.
Although the difference with the peloton is around 2 minutes, it is worth clarifying that both the Ecuadorian and the Colombian are regarding to crown Teixeta.
The ascent to the Coll de la Teixeta begins !!
35 KILOMETERS TO REACH THE GOAL!!!
The difference of 3 minutes between the big group and the ‘rebels’ is reduced, but the South Americans look very fine and, surely, one of the two will take the victory… and the leadership!
As the race progresses, an average speed of almost 40 km/hthe last obstacle for the protagonists will be Coll de la Teixeta, a category 2 port, where they will have to climb 5.6 kilometers, with an average gradient of 4% and a maximum of 8%.
50 KILMETERS TO CROSS THE GOAL!!!

If the day ends as it is, Sergio Higuita will become the leader, followed by Richard Carapaz, 19″ behind; and Joao Almeida will close the podium, 3’10”.
Kilometers go by and the Colombian flag continues to ‘fly’ by Sergio Higuita. He rolls with Richard Carapaz and, for now, the coffee grower becomes the leader of the general classification.

From beginning to end. Sergio Higuita and Richard Carapaz are giving an exhibition in the sixth stage of the Tour of Catalonia. Both South American cyclists are at the head of the race with an advantage of 3’23” over the pack.
The advantage between Higuita, Carapaz and the rest of the pack is getting closer to almost 3 minutes, which, without a doubt, puts the Colombian as the leader of the general classification.

They are destroying the Higuita and Carapaz race. They already take more than 120 seconds out of the large group, where Nairo Quintana is also found.

1) Richard Carapaz, 6 points
2) Sergio Higuita, 4 points
3) Marc Soler, 2 points
It’s nice to have a Colombian in the day’s breakaway, but even more so knowing that, if this continues, he will be the leader in the general classification. Higuita and Carapaz did not let their guard down and got 1’35” ahead of the big group.
ONE HUNDRED KILOMETERS TO REACH THE GOAL!!!
Second ‘monster’ of the day. The protagonists await 3.8 kilometers of ascent with an average drop of 6% and maximum slopes of 12%. The difference between the head of the race and the peloton is 1’23”.
It is already more than 30 seconds that is distancing Plapp from Carapaz and Higuita. The large group is at 1’20”.
Well, the head of the race now is a one-on-one between Carapaz and Sergio Higuita. Lucas Plapp drops down and is almost 10″ behind the South Americans.
1) Lucas Plapp, 10 points
2) Richard Carapaz, 8 points
3) Sergio Higuita, 6 points

But how are ours today! Nairo Quintana turns on the ‘motorcycle’ and joins the day’s getaway. Difference of more than 60 seconds with Joao Almeida’s group.
The thing is like this at the moment. Sergio Higuita is in the break of the day with Richard Carapaz and Lucas Plapp. Almost 25 seconds behind is Nairo Quintana; and Joao Almeida, current leader, at 1’03”.
The current leader, Joao Almeida, is not having a good time at this start of the stage. His pursuers are doing their thing and they are taking time from him now.

A lot of attention that we have news in the first port of the day. Both Nairo Quintana and Richard Carapaz turn the squad ‘upside down’ and put together the getaway
The first and great challenge of the day for the peloton arrives. Climb the first category ‘monster’, where 7.2 kilometers await you with a difference in altitude of 6% and a maximum slope of 15%.
For today, the main mountainous difficulty will be the Coll de les Llebres, first category port in the first 40 kilometers. From there, the peloton will face the Coll de Capafons in the second category and the Coll de la Teixeta less than 30 kilometers to go in Cambrils and also in the second category.
