Xinhua News Agency, Montpellier, March 25 (Reporter Xiao Yazhuo) Without Russia’s “three sets of dolls”, this year’s women’s singles competition at the World Figure Skating Championships is somewhat lacklustre. The Beijing Winter Olympics bronze medalist and Japanese player Hanamoto Sakamoto almost won. Crushing the advantage to win the championship, she scored a career-high 155.77 points in the free skating competition on the 25th, and a total score of 236.09 points also set a new personal record. Belgium’s Hendrix and the United States’ Liu Meixian won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Sakamoto Hanori is the first Japanese player to win the women’s singles title at the World Championships following Mayo Asada in 2014.

“This gold medal means a lot to me, I have had a very difficult month, but such an experience can only be had by participating in the Winter Olympics and the World Championships. I am very happy that I have overcome these difficulties and finally come here. .” Sakamoto Hanaori said.

Compared with the just-concluded Winter Olympics, the level of this game is a bit embarrassing. Although Sakamoto Hanaori’s score hit a new personal high, there is still a big gap compared with the Russian player’s score of breaking 250 points, while Hendrix and Liu Meixian have only 217.7 points and 211.19 points respectively.

In contrast, the ice dance event has become the most watched event of the World Championships because of the participation of French local players, new Winter Olympic champions Papadages and Nishizawa. The 4-time World Championship champion pair also lived up to expectations. They scored 92.73 points with a near-perfect performance in the rhythmic dance competition on the 25th, once once more breaking the scoring record they set at the Beijing Winter Olympics.

The two American pairs, Hubbell/Donoghue and Jock/Bates, ranked second and third with 89.72 points and 87.51 points respectively.

On the 26th, the men’s singles free skating and ice dance free dance competitions will be held at the World Figure Skating Championships.
