Vienna: Mask refusers became aggressive in the subway station

In the course of a patrol service, police officers became aware of two men (father and son) who on Friday evening at the Westbahnhof stop in Vienna were not wearing the prescribed FFP2 mask either in an underground train set or on the platform. The officers spoke to the two regarding it, but the men – 53 and 21 years old – didn’t take them seriously, on the contrary: According to the Vienna State Police Directorate, the Serbs “did the official act ridiculous and insulted the female police officers in particular”.

Despite repeated requests to take a step back and put on masks, the younger man in particular is said to have continued to scold and become increasingly aggressive, it was said. He was therefore arrested according to administrative regulations. His father tried to prevent this, in vain: The 53-year-old was also provisionally arrested on suspicion of attempted resistance to state authority. Both men have to reckon with various administrative charges.
