Ukrainian crisis: Morocco maintains its position of “neutrality” by not participating in UN votes

Morocco did not participate, once once more, last Thursday, in the vote of the General Assembly of the United Nations demanding an immediate end to the Russian military attack once morest Ukraine.

As a reminder, during a vote on a similar resolution, on March 2, Morocco decided not to participate in the vote, explaining in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the kingdom’s non-participation might not make the subject to any interpretation in relation to its position of principle, in particular its “strong commitment to respect for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and national unity of all Member States of the United Nations”.

In its press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also recalled that “in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, the members of the Organization must settle their disputes by peaceful means and according to the principles of international law, in order to preserve the world peace and security”.
