BCCI ready to start women’s IPL bcci | women’s IPL

Mumbai: The BCCI is all set to start the Women’s IPL. The BCCI has decided to start from next year. In the first phase, five or six teams will take part in the tournament. Ahead of this, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that there will be four exhibition matches for women players this year.

There has been widespread criticism of the BCCI’s reluctance to start a women’s IPL. It is in this context that the BCCI has decided to go ahead with the Women’s IPL. The start of the Women’s IPL requires the approval of the BCCI’s Annual General Body Meeting.

In this context, Ganguly said following the IPL governing council meeting that he plans to organize a women’s IPL next year involving five or six teams. In an interview to PTI in February, Ganguly had said that the women’s IPL would start in 2023.

Brijesh Patel, chairman of the IPL governing body, said the women’s exhibition matches would be held during the IPL play – offs this year. There will be four matches involving three teams.
