Alstom will deliver 20 interregional trains in Romania under a first contract estimated at 270 million euros (275.6 million francs). The French railway equipment manufacturer will deliver 20 Coradia Stream electric trains.
Alstom and the Romanian Railway Authority (ARF) have signed a contract for the delivery of 20 Coradia Stream electric trains, 420 of which have already been ordered in Italy, the Netherlands and Denmark, Alstom said on Friday.
This contract, which also includes associated maintenance services for 15 years, may be extended if the beneficiary places an official order for 20 additional trains, and the total estimated amount of the project might exceed 750 million euros, Alstom said in a communicated.
The group is already responsible in Romania for signaling and electrification on more than 75% of the Rhine-Danube corridor, and provides maintenance services for the metro fleet in the capital Bucharest.
