His message to listeners
« Now, I would like to take these next few minutes to tell you regarding a very big decision. I have been thinking regarding retirement for a long time, I had actually set a date a few years ago, but the pandemic of the past two years and now the war in Ukraine have delayed the process. I know, however, that the time has come. I informed TVA management that I was going to leave at the end of the year. I will continue to host the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts until the summer. I will be there in the fall for the face-to-face of the leaders and the Québec 2022 election evening. In the meantime, that will give TVA management the time and the opportunity to choose the person they want to see replace me. There is a very good succession in our team.
I still have a passion for the job. Coming to work has never been a chore for me. On the contrary, it’s a daily pleasure, but following 45 years in the spotlight of TVA, 50 years of journalism, I feel like a little shade, to enjoy life with Ginette and mine. I have health and more, I have simple happiness in my life…”
