In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH reported 26,084 new coronavirus infections in 68,524 tests on Wednesday. At the same time, the BAG registered 15 new deaths and 191 hospital admissions.
On the same day a week ago, the BAG had received reports of 36,041 confirmed new infections, 168 hospital admissions and 20 deaths. The number of cases fell by 27.6 percent within a week. Hospital admissions increased by 13.7 percent compared to the previous week.
There are currently a total of 620 people in intensive care in the hospitals. The utilization of the intensive care units is currently 74.30 percent. 19.50 percent of the available beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients.
In the past four weeks, 7,388.95 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infections have been reported for every 100,000 inhabitants. The reproduction number R, which indicates how many people an infected person infects on average, was 1.04 around ten days ago.
69.13 percent of the population in Switzerland are now fully vaccinated. Another 0.99 percent received a first dose. Of the population aged 12 and over, 78.19 percent are vaccinated. In addition, 41.94 percent of the general population and 76.29 percent of those over 65 have received a so-called booster vaccination.
