Amir Abdullahian: Iran is ready to extend bridges of cooperation with Lebanon in various fields

Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, said upon his arrival in Beirut that he consults continuously with Lebanese officials on bilateral relations, and affirms his country’s readiness to build bridges of cooperation with Lebanon in various fields, most notably the economic sector.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian affirmed Iran’s readiness to build bridges of cooperation with Lebanon in various fields, especially in the economic and commercial fields.

In a statement upon his arrival in Beirut, today, Thursday, Amir Abdollahian said: “About a month ago, during a meeting with Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the Munich Forum, I suggested to him Iran’s willingness to contribute to building two power plants in Lebanon with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts for each station, in addition to our willingness to cooperation in many other areas.

He added, “We are in Beirut today because the relations between the two countries are excellent, and we are constantly consulting with Lebanese officials on bilateral relations and regional and international developments.”

The Iranian minister said that since his last visit to Beirut until today, “many transformations have taken place in the region and the world, so it is necessary for us to hold more thorough consultations with dear officials in Lebanon regarding them.”

He added, “During this visit, he brings a warm greeting from the Iranian people to all the dear Lebanese people.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian arrived today in Beirut from the Syrian capital, Damascus, on an official visit to Lebanon that will continue until tomorrow, during which he will meet with President Michel Aoun, Parliament Speakers Nabih Berri and the government, Najib Mikati, in addition to meetings with political and partisan figures.

This is the second visit of Amir Abdullahian to Lebanon following assuming the portfolio of foreign affairs in Iran, where he visited Beirut on October 6, 2021. During that visit, Amir Abdullahian held meetings and talks with prominent Lebanese officials and personalities, during which he discussed with them various issues related to relations Bilateral and regional developments.
