“Read me everything”: Putting the writings of the next generation to the test on the set

The term “writing for the next generation” refers to a text that is written and designed to be addressed to an audience. Four authors from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation were selected following a call for projects which brought together nearly a hundred applications. Their four texts, all unpublished, will be put to the test on the set. “To the West” by Judith Ciselet. “Canto XXXV” by Karim Daher. “Sueurs” by Karine Jurquet and “Leila” by Anaïs de Clercq.

To give voice to these new writings, actors and directors were needed. With the help of the CAS, the Center for the Performing Arts of the FWB, the Rideau de Bruxelles managed to bring together ten young actors and actresses fresh out of theater schools. Surrounded by four experienced directors, they lend their voice to these words of today.

“The condition for being able to submit an application was to submit a text that had been completed, or almost completed, for a maximum of one year. We selected four texts by favoring a diversity of pen, words, visions and sensitivity. “
