Sconstruction sector: stability of activity
Expectations put forward by business leaders in the construction sector, for the 1is quarter of 2022, show overall stability in activity.
This development would result, on the one hand, from the increase in activity expected in the branch of building construction and, on the other hand, from the decrease in activity expected at the level of the branch of civil engineering, indicates the HCP which has just published the results of business tendency surveys of companies in the manufacturing industry, mining, energy industry, environmental industry and construction sectors.
Thus, the construction sector would experience stability in the number of employees employed, estimates the HCP. In the first quarter of 2022, 40% of companies in this sector encountered difficulties in sourcing raw materials, the survey said, noting that 46% of business leaders consider cash flow to be difficult. By branch, this proportion reaches half of the companies in the “specialized construction works” branch.
Extractive industry: towards a drop in production
Companies in the extractive industry sector expect a drop in their production in the first quarter of 2022. This development is mainly due to a decrease in phosphate production. At the level of the workforce employed, the bosses of this sector foresee a drop, specifies the HCP.
For its part, the energy production expected for the 1is quarter of 2022 would experience a decrease attributable to a drop in the production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, said the same note, noting that employment would experience a decrease.
For the same quarter, companies in the environmental industry anticipate stable production, particularly in “water collection, treatment and distribution” activities, and stable numbers of employees.
Regarding the production of the energy industry, it would have experienced a drop mainly due to the decrease in the production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, estimates the HCP.
With regard to order books, they are deemed to be at a normal level. Employment, meanwhile, would have increased.
The production of the environmental industry would have recorded a stability attributable to a stagnation in the activity of collection, treatment and distribution of water. As for the order books in this sector, they would have settled at a normal level and employment would have been stable.
Manufacturing industry: towards stable production
Companies in the manufacturing industry expect production to be stable in the first quarter of 2022. These expectations would be attributable, on the one hand, to an increase in activity in metallurgy and the manufacture of electrical and electrical equipment. , on the other hand, to a decrease in that of the chemical industry and the automobile industry.
Regarding employment expectations, manufacturers generally expect a stability in the workforce employed, according to the same source.
Under 1is quarter of 2022, 53% of companies in the manufacturing industry encountered difficulties in the supply of raw materials, mainly those of foreign origin, estimates the HCP.
Stocks of raw materials during this quarter are at a normal level and cash flow is considered difficult according to 27% of bosses. By branch, this proportion reaches 40% in textiles and leather.
The sector’s order books are deemed to be at a normal level by business leaders, said the HCP, noting that employment would have experienced stability.
Overall, the production capacity utilization rate (TUC) in manufacturing industry would have been 75%.
