NVIDIA today announced the launch of a new NVIDIA Omniverse feature that helps developers share assets, categorize libraries, collaborate on libraries, and deploy artificial intelligence (AI) to animate characters’ facial expressions in a new game development pipeline, allowing The content of the game developer ecosystem is richer and more diverse.
Officials pointed out that with the NVIDIA Omniverse real-time design collaboration and simulation platform, game developers can use tools that support AI and NVIDIA RTX, or easily create custom tools to simplify, accelerate and enhance development workflows. New features for game developers include updated projects for Omniverse Audio2Face, Omniverse Nucleus Cloud and Omniverse DeepSearch, as well as the Unreal Engine 5 Omniverse Connector.
Frank DeLise, vice president of the Omniverse division at NVIDIA, said: “Omniverse provides a powerful development pipeline that addresses the challenges faced in the development process today. Omniverse unifies artists, art, tools and applications on a single platform, so even game development People are scattered and can still collaborate.”
A powerful and collaborative game creation environment
Officials say the game development process has become increasingly complex as artists and designers strive to exceed player expectations for large, immersive gaming environments. Teams of artists around the world are working hard to build a vast library of 3D content that becomes even more challenging when combined with realistic lighting, realistic physics, and AI technology that is labor-intensive and time-consuming. To overcome these challenges, Omniverse brings together artists, assets and software tools on one powerful platform to help game developers create more realistic and physically accurate games more smoothly. Omniverse’s collaboration capabilities can dramatically reduce the time it takes to iterate on key design decisions to speed project completion.
According to NVIDIA, Omniverse is an open, multi-GPU-enabled platform for 3D design collaboration and real-time production of physically accurate simulations. It runs on any NVIDIA RTX-enabled device, from laptops to servers, transforming complex 3D production workflows. Omniverse is built on Pixar’s Universal Scene Description (USD), an easily extensible open source 3D scene description and archive format for content creation and exchange between most of the most popular major game development tools. NVIDIA develops new tools, integrates technologies, and provides templates and guidance to extend USD.
Game creators, designers, artists, and developers can use assets, libraries, software applications, and game engines together in Omniverse to iterate on design concepts in real-time, create productivity-enhancing tools, and instantly share photorealistic models.
Omniverse for game developers
Officials point out that developers can use the platform’s modular components to create their own tools. Game developers can use off-the-shelf Omniverse apps and more third-party created apps.
Features available in the Omniverse platform for game developers include:
- Omniverse Audio2Face is an NVIDIA AI-powered app that allows character creators to create high-quality facial animations with just one audio file. Audio2Face now supports the creation of complete facial animations, and the artist can also control the emotions expressed by the face. Audio2Face allows game developers to quickly and easily add realistic expressions to game characters, allowing players to create a stronger emotional connection with game characters and be more immersive.
- Omniverse Nucleus Cloud Open for early access, you can easily share Omniverse scenes with just a click of a mouse, without deploying Nucleus on-premises or in a private cloud. Game developers use Nucleus Cloud to instantly and easily share 3D assets, allowing both internal and external development team members to work together.
- Omniverse DeepSearch AI The service is now available to Omniverse enterprise users, allowing game developers to instantly search through a catalog of all unlabeled 3D assets, objects and characters using natural language input and images.
- Omniverse Connectors The plug-in enables “instant sync” collaboration between third-party design tools and Omniverse. Game artists use the new Unreal Engine 5 Omniverse Connector to exchange USD and Material Definition Language data between the game engine and the Omniverse.
