Good news for Chelsea and their fans

The British government has granted a new license to Chelsea. This will allow the London club to sell tickets for their final Champions League and FA Cup fixtures this season.

The sale of tickets for the Champions League and the FA Cup is once more authorized for Chelsea.

The Blues, reigning European champions, are under a series of restrictions due to sanctions imposed by the British government on their owner, Roman Abramovich, for his alleged links with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

As such, the London club was banned from selling tickets from March 10. The measure did not concern annual subscriptions or tickets already sold.

The ban still applies to the Premier League, the English championship, where Chelsea will not be able to sell tickets to its supporters for matches scheduled at its Stamford Bridge stadium. Its supporters will, however, be able to purchase tickets for their team’s away matches. Likewise, Chelsea will be able to sell tickets for supporters of Premier League teams who come to its lawn.

Chelsea will host Real Madrid on April 6 in the Champions League quarter-final first leg; they will also face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final on the weekend of April 16 and 17 at Wembley.

Under the terms of the new licence, the club can put tickets on sale for these two matches and for any other matches that may follow in these two competitions, as well as for matches in its women’s section in the Women’s Super League. The proceeds of these sales must be donated to the organizers of these various competitions.
