When I arrive The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to Nintendo 64 in November 1998 made history and changed the world of video games, so much so that today, 24 years later, there are still many people passionate regarding this title to the point of bringing it to other platforms to give it a new life. Thus was born a version of Ocarina of Time for PC, and is now available to play.
The PC version has been created by a joint work of fans and developers, improving the title not only with high definition (HD) graphics but also with support for ultra wide screens and for modswhich will allow anyone to create modified options and features for the game.
It is even possible to play Ocarina of Time on Valve’s new Steam Deck.
Some developers continue to work on further improving this version for PC, with the intention of adding 60fps support for graphics, texture packs, support for the text to audio and support for Linux and Mac computers, among other things.
To play this PC version of Ocarina of Time it is necessary to install a software called “Ship of Harkinian” that is available in its own channel of Discord. In addition, according to its creators, it is necessary to have an N64 ROM from Ocarina of Time legally owned by the user, which will be extracted by the software and run as a native PC version. Technically, according to its creators, the fact that this project was reverse engineered and not by using leaked code from the original company (i.e. Nintendo) should protect this product from legal consequences, but only time will tell. will tell. Nintendo is usually strict regarding any type of port or version homemade of their games.
Other classic Nintendo games are in process to be brought to PC, including Banjo-Kazooie, Paper Mario and Perfect Dark. You can see the PC version of Ocarina of Time in action in the video below.[[Ship of Harkinian (YouTube / Discord) via VideoGamesChronicle / Andy Robinson (Twitter)]
