The decision announced in the Girard budget is at odds with the government’s plan for the green economy and once morest the current of global trends in this area, believes the CCAQ organization.

“We are surprised that the Government of Quebec has decided to no longer encourage Quebecers to buy vehicles that contribute significantly to the reduction of GHGs and to the ecological transition,” lamented Robert Poëti, President and CEO of the CCAQ. .

“Contrary to what the government claims, the difference between the price of gasoline vehicles and the price of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles is not decreasing,” said Mr. Poëti.

The Corporation urges the Legault government to continue efforts to electrify transportation and not to “unfairly” penalize the Quebec automotive sector.

“It is important to remember that 50% of all electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles sold in Canada find buyers in Quebec,” added the president of the CCAQ.
