Since March 1, the VAT for the electricity bill has indeed been reduced from 21 to 6%, a measure which will also apply to natural gas from April 1.
According to the Creg, social tariffs will increase by 7.9% on average for electricity and 9.7% for natural gas. But with the reduction in VAT, the final price, including VAT, is lower than the previous quarter.
For electricity, for example, the new tariff is 22.907 euro cents per kilowatt hour. In January and February, this social tariff was still 24.236 euro cents per kilowatt hour. For natural gas, the new social tariff reaches 2.846 euro cents per kilowatt hour, including VAT, against 2.961 euro cents in the previous quarter.
