Health goes to schools to vaccinate against COVID and other conditions

The health team advances with vaccination in schools throughout the province and notes that there is an increase in inoculations; The same thing happens in health centers. According to what the head of the Immunization Service, María Esther Diángelo, stated, it is a variable that is repeated every year in March and April.

“We, who do the distribution of doses, observe that the vaccinators request a greater number of applications for children,” he assured.

As reported, from the first day of classes the school inoculation campaign is carried out, which includes ampoules once morest COVID-19 and those of the regular calendar. They work in public and private schools.

Before the start of the school year, there was a meeting in which Education and Health authorities drew up the protocol to return to the classrooms safely. In these determinations, vaccination was raised as a central axis.

Diángelo remarked that the fact of offering the service in educational establishments was very useful. Sometimes, the guardians cannot take their children to the health centers and they forget to check the vaccination records, so the children receive the corresponding drugs some time later. The current campaign allows them to be up to date.

Although the applications can be arranged following the indicated term, they warn that there is a period that is lost and in which the minor is exposed to various diseases.

“When the vaccination campaign once morest the coronavirus in children started last October, a great effort was made and all the schools were visited; students were immunized and schemes were completed. There was a big uptick compared to previous months when, due to the pandemic, there was less community attendance at health centers. We ended 2021 with higher coverage than in the first quarter,” he noted.

“The vaccine, following drinking water, is the second tool we have to prevent diseases such as measles, meningitis, pneumonia, among others; With it, deaths are also avoided. They are products that for the most part, except for what refers to COVID-19, which is more recent, have been made for twenty or thirty years.

“They are effective, safe – he added – and thanks to the campaigns and the large number of immunized people there are pathologies that we practically do not see, such as polio, rubella or measles. Even so, they exist in other parts of the world, so there is a risk that they will return to our country. This is why we need vaccines. More than 95% of children and adults have to be with complete schemes for this to be a barrier in the communities”.

More doses arrived

Diángelo stressed that a new shipment once morest the coronavirus arrived yesterday. There are 7,200 doses from the CanSino laboratory that will be distributed to vaccinators to start schemes or apply reinforcements in people over 18 years of age. This vaccine is kept in cold rooms from 2º to 8º, which allows it to be stored in the same refrigerators where the rest of the immunizations are kept.
