It has been nearly 5 years since Apple Watch Series 3 was launched. Although it still supports the latest WatchOS 8 system, it may not be able to handle the next version of WatchOS because the hardware itself is outdated. Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known as Apple’s strongest analyst, predicts that Apple Watch Series 3 will be discontinued in the third quarter of this year.
According to foreign media “Digital Trends”, when Apple launched WatchOS 7.5 last year, the Apple Watch Series 3 had a problem of insufficient storage space. Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the hardware of Apple Watch Series 3 may not be able to meet the needs of the upcoming WatchOS 9 in terms of computing power. Aside from the hardware, the Apple Watch Series 3 has a relatively outdated design, and it’s the last Apple Watch to still feature a large bezel around the display.
Apple Fitness+ is still available following discontinuation
Despite the imminent end of the Apple Watch Series 3, users may still be able to use Apple Fitness+ for a while, as the company ensures users can take advantage of its entry-level smartwatch to enjoy its fitness services.
