[Archyde.com]-Germany and Qatar are negotiating a long-term partnership in the energy sector. Government officials from both countries said yesterday. Germany is trying to reduce its dependence on Russia for energy.

The German side said the partnership had been signed, but Qatar has not said that the agreement has been reached.

German Minister Habeck visited Qatar and met with Tamim on the 20th. According to the Qatar Emirate, the two sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the energy sector.

According to Qatar Energy, Qatar’s state-owned oil and gas company, Qatar said companies in both countries will be in talks on a long-term supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

A spokesman for the German Ministry of Economy confirmed that the agreement had been finalized.

Currently, Germany does not have an LNG terminal and cannot directly receive LNG from Qatar. Recently, it announced a plan to build an LNG terminal.
