109 trillion won in house ownership tax last year… The number has nearly tripled in the last five years of the Wen government.

It was found that the house ownership tax (property tax + comprehensive real estate tax) collected by the government last year reached 11 trillion won. Compared to 2016, just before the Moon Jae-in administration took office, the number has nearly tripled.

On the 21st, Senator Kim Sang-hoon, from the People’s Power, analyzed the current state of ownership tax, which is the sum of the comprehensive real estate tax and property tax for housing from the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the National Tax Service, and 17 local governments from 2016 to 2021. . This is 2.7 times higher than the 3.93 trillion won in 2016.

Looking at each tax category, the tax burden on the housing sector increased by regarding 18 times from 320.8 billion won in 2016 to 5,678.9 billion won in 2021. This means that a significant portion of the house ownership tax that increased during the Moon Jae-in administration was due to the increase in the property tax. The property tax for housing increased by 44% from 3.61 trillion won to 5,196.7 billion won during the same period.

Last year, Seoul recorded 4.49 trillion won in property tax, Gyeonggi 2.721.9 trillion won, and Incheon 366.8 billion won. 7,581.3 billion won was collected in the metropolitan area alone, indicating that 69.7% of the total property tax was concentrated in the metropolitan area. Considering that in 2016, the tax on house ownership in Seoul was 1.5948 trillion won and that of Gyeonggi-do was 977.4 billion won, the ownership tax increased 2.8 times in five years.

The local government with the highest rate of increase in ownership tax in the country was Jeju. According to Rep. Kim’s analysis, Jeju’s holding tax amounted from 26.4 billion won in 2016 to 185.3 billion won in 2021, five years later, more than sevenfold. During the same period, Sejong’s holding tax increased 4.3 times from 17.9 billion won to 76.5 billion won.

In some cases, the estate tax increased more than 60 times in five years. In Gwangju, the property tax for housing units in 2016 increased 61.2 times from 2 billion won to 122.4 billion won in 2021. The property tax for Sejong increased by 2.9 times from 17.4 billion won in 2016 to 50.6 billion won in 2021.

Rep. Kim said, “In the five years of the Moon Jae-in administration, the polarization of whether there is a house or not, and indiscriminate tax bombs have been poured out because of having a house.
