Shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday, a call was made to the Saguenay police to denounce an individual in possession of a firearm and narcotics in the Arthur-Buies street sector.
“In light of this information, a team of investigators went to work to collect more [de détails] “, explained the spokesperson for the Saguenay Police Department, Luc Tardif.
Shortly before 8 a.m., the police received a second call for shots fired in the same area, near 110 Arthur-Buies Street.
Investigation
The team that was already on the scene due to the first call was able to get there quickly. Four individuals were then arrested and transported to the station to be met by investigators.
“Two firearms were seized. One that looked like an AK-47 submachine gun-type assault rifle, which the officer said, however, was possibly a pellet gun.”
The second firearm found at the scene was real. Various other prohibited weapons were also found on site.
“Investigators are still hard at work analyzing this scene. There is a lot of work to be done on this file before we say that charges might be laid, ”he said.
problematic place
The agent says that over the past few months, the place has become more problematic.
“As recently as Thursday morning, there was a search in this area for the sale of narcotics and an individual was arrested. It is a place where calls have multiplied for various reasons in recent weeks and months,” said Mr. Tardif.
Residents hope that the police will “clean up” the area following these arrests and that rue Arthur-Buies will once once more become “a cold spot”.
Additional information in this case will be released later as the investigation is ongoing.
