Within the framework of a traffic control routine, a chilling scene was recorded by security cameras in La Plata. Early this Sunday, a driver tried to avoid a checkpoint, tried to flee and dragged a municipal agent for three blocks, who fell to the pavement and was seriously injured.
The incident occurred at the intersection of 13th and 50th streets, near Plaza Moreno, in the center of the provincial capital. as far as he might tell THE NATION by Buenos Aires police sources, Thiago Villani20, was behind the wheel when municipal agent Jorge Tapa, 49, tried to make him stop for a routine vehicle documentation inspection.

The agent was taken on the car at full speed for three blocks.
Security cameras recorded the entire sequence. When the driver decided that he would break the checkpoint and, consequently, decided to ram the Guardia Urbana de Protección (GUP) agent, three other officers tried to kick him into custody. Instead of braking, Villani accelerated, with Tapa on the hood.
A patrol car from the Buenos Aires police who was at the scene, in support of municipal personnel, began a pursuit of the vehicle. “In the follow-up, the staff observed how the vehicle threw the municipal agent on the street when turning onto Diagonal 73, corner 15″detailed from the police force.
Immediately, the GUP and provincial police personnel who were chasing the vehicle assisted the victim and requested the presence of an ambulance and SAME medical personnel to attend to the wounded agent.
The entire procedure was followed by the municipal chambers of the Operations and Monitoring Center (COM). With these images, the operators were able to identify the vehicle and a lockdown operation might be carried out in the area.
Two blocks from where the agent was lying, the police managed to locate the vehicle they were looking for: it was parked in the middle of the block and without occupants.
While, a neighbor who was on the balcony of his house was able to observe the sequence of the event and saw how, following parking, the two occupants of the car walked away. Thus, he managed to give the description of the suspects, who were arrested a few blocks from the place. One of them had the green card and the car key with him.
Police sources indicated that “both occupants were immediately transferred to the 1st police station in La Plata, where it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was a 20-year-old man, who was accompanied by a minor under 16, a situation that further aggravates the case, which was classified as attempted homicide aggravated by the bond of a minor.”
Carlos Mariecurrena, director of the La Plata Urban Guard and a witness to the event, stated: “It was a complex and painful situation. We have been attacked on other occasions, but this is very serious.”
In dialogue with the TN news channel, Mariecurrena recounted how her partner was assisted by a doctor and a nurse who were passing by where the agent had been lying on the ground, before the ambulance arrived.
“I thought my friend was dead”he pointed.
According to the spokespersons, Jorge Tapa was transferred to the Italian Hospital, in La Plata, and, following the corresponding studies, it was found that He had suffered a “skull fracture” and polytrauma, although he is stabilized.
In the investigation of the very serious incident, the Functional Unit of Instruction (UFI) No. 5 of La Plata and the Jurisdiction of Juvenile Criminal Responsibility No. 3 of the same judicial department are involved.
