Philadelphia 76ers reportedly in talks with Boston Celtics over trade

Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons appears to be attracting attention from a division rival. Like Shams Charania (The Athletic) reported, there were already talks with the Boston Celtics regarding a trade.

Simmons remains unavailable to his team; the Australian complained regarding mental problems following his boycott during the offseason and is currently being treated professionally, now apparently also in consultation with the Sixers.

The desired solution for both sides is probably still a trade, even if the Sixers always communicate this differently to the outside world. This has now also been discussed with the Celtics, as Charania reports. So far, however, there has been “no traction”, which is probably also due to the fact that the Sixers’ demands are still very high.

For example, team president Daryl Morey is supposed to reclaim Jaylen Brown in every deal, who is in the middle of the best season of his career (25.6 points, 6.1 rebounds on average). It is very unlikely that Boston would give up the young All-Star, especially since he still has two more years of contract under maximum conditions.

Mark Murphy vom Boston Herald added that all rumors of trade talks between Boston and Philly were “untrue” according to his information. It is therefore unclear how great the Celtics’ alleged interest in Simmons actually is.
