Funeral homes are no longer at a standstill

Although distancing and the wearing of masks are still in effect, funeral homes in Quebec are resuming their operations in a more normal setting.

This return to near-normality is welcomed by funeral home managers, but also families.

During the pandemic, nearly 50% of funeral ceremonies were postponed. During the first wave, this stat even increased to 90%.

For funeral home owners, the pandemic has brought its share of challenges, including managing the emotions of families.

“Often we have time to prepare, but people who did not have this reality, for whom the death was sudden and who had not had the contact they would have liked in recent times, it came really raise the level of effervescence, ”explained the director of operations of Groupe Garneau, Marie-Ève Garneau, in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.

For the latter, there is no doubt that the pandemic has demonstrated the importance of funeral ceremonies for families.
